Traveling to Antwerp, Belgium to buy diamonds twice a year is something my husband and our store owner Newt Mitchell always looks forward to and this past April, it was an extra special trip. Newt and our daughter Cloie traveled to Antwerp together and it was her first time there in a buying capacity for our store. Newt is making the trip again in October! Mitchell’s Jewelry is Oklahoma’s largest diamond importer and that all began with Newt’s first trip to Antwerp in 2005. Antwerp, Belgium is home to the very finest diamond cutters in the world and over 80% of the world’s diamonds are cut and polished there. On Newt’s first trip to the diamond rooms of Antwerp, he immediately recognized that Antwerp’s selection gave him the buying power to purchase bigger and better diamonds at a much lower price for our customers.
