Our Story Mitchell’s Jewelry is a family-owned jewelry store located at 218 East Main Street in historic downtown Norman. We are proud to be the 2008 Readers’ Choice selection for Norman’s Best Jewelry Store. We have been providing fine jewelry, custom design and quality repair work to our customers since 1981. It is all for you and because of you that we now serve you in our newly renovated store. Our goal was simple – a luxurious space to offer an expanded line of favorites and an opportunity to add fabulous new lines for you. Additionally we wanted to give you a space to get up close and personal with our Antwerp diamonds and our Diamond Rooms do just that. We welcome you to come in to see what you have inspired. Owner Newt Mitchell is certified as a Sales Professional by the Jewelers of America and places great emphasis on continuous training for himself and his staff. In addition to the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO) and Jewelers of America seminars Newt and the Mitchell’s Jewelry staff attend, Newt regularly travels to Antwerp, Belgium to hand select diamonds for Mitchell’s Jewelry customers. Newt is active in IJO and Mitchell’s Jewelry has been recognized as the number one Antwerp diamond importer of the more than 850 IJO stores throughout the United States. Newt also gives back to the community that has given so much to him. Newt’s great passion is Royal Family Kids’ Camp and he is their fundraising chair as well as a camp counselor. Newt is also active with the University of Oklahoma Tip In Club, Norman Sooner Rotary, Norman Business Association, Norman Chamber of Commerce and Norman Downtowner’s Association. The Mitchell’s Jewelry staff has been handpicked to best serve you. Store Manager Ryan Cannon has been serving our customers since 2000. Ryan has spent time in Antwerp selecting diamonds as well as devoting time to seminars and classes to further his diamond and gem knowledge. Ryan regularly attends Oklahoma Jewelers Association seminars and Independent Jewelers seminars and Jewelry Market. Ryan received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Oklahoma. Ryan is certified as a Sales Professional by the Jewelers of America. Ryan has completed a Diamond Grading Lab conducted by the Gemological Institute of America and has also completed coursework for Computer Aided Design (CAD). Our Sales Manager Cassandra McCall has many years of experience in the fashion industry and has extensive jewelry knowledge so she is perfect to assist you with your jewelry needs. Cassandra is certified as a Sales Professional by the Jewelers of America and has received her pearl grading certification. Cassandra attends seminars to stay in the know about jewelry so when she is choosing jewelry lines from our market, she does so with fashion sense and true product knowledge. Cassandra has also traveled to Antwerp to hand select diamonds and loves to work with customers to make their diamond dreams come true. Lori Culwell is certified as a Sales Professional by Jewelers of America and frequently attends buying market. Lori recently traveled to Antwerp to hand select diamonds for our customers. Whether for yourself or giving, Lori can help with all your jewelry needs. Nancy Wolf is particularly gifted in making Wish List desires known so everyone is happy! Nancy’s knowledge of style and her years of retail experience make your shopping a pure delight. Nancy’s flair is a wonderful asset when it comes to suggestions for yourself or others. Nancy is a certified as a Sales Professional by the Jewelers of America. Andrew Carruth does much of the engraving and has also recently completed course work for Computer Aided Design (CAD). Andrew can engrave just about anything and enjoys assisting customers with thinking outside of the box for their gift giving. One of Andrew’s specialties is wine bottles engraved with the wedding date for newly married couples. Andrew is certified as a Sales Professional by Jewelers of America. Additionally, Andrew is a business major attending Oklahoma City Community College. We take pride in having our jeweler, Jay Hasenbeck on premise to create the one-of-a-kind item you have in mind. Having our jeweler on premise also allows us to provide the prompt repair service you have come to expect from Mitchell’s Jewelry. Jay has been with us since 1990 and is a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America receiving a degree in Gemology including a Diamond Certificate, Colored Stone Certificate, Pearl Certificate and a Colored Stone Grading Certificate. Our affiliation with Independent Jewelers Organization, Jewelers of America and Oklahoma Jewelers Association allows us to continually educate our employees and ourselves and in turn give you the benefit of that knowledge. Our dedication to serving you is one of the many things that separate us from the crowd of retailers vying for your business. Jewelry is more than elegant ornamentation; it can be an heirloom we pass down from generation to generation, a token of affection given to someone special or a reward for ourselves.
